About the position

As a Senior Network Engineer at American National, you will play a crucial role in designing, optimizing, and safeguarding our network infrastructure to ensure seamless connectivity and security for our employees, agents, customers, and external business partners. This position involves supporting the data communications infrastructure and connectivity requirements, which are vital for the smooth operation of our organization. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to manage various network types, including local area networks (LAN), wireless local area networks (WLAN), metro area networks (MAN), wide area networks (WAN), and virtual private networks (VPN). Your responsibilities will include designing, installing, and maintaining the necessary hardware, software, and configurations to support these networks. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, configuring, and supporting Cisco switches, routers, and wireless LAN controllers. You will utilize network management tools to monitor network health and stability, ensuring that our systems are running optimally. Additionally, you will develop and maintain current network documentation, which is essential for tracking changes and ensuring compliance with best practices. You will also work with Cisco DNA Center and ISE to manage access and campus environments, assist in the configuration and troubleshooting of firewalls, VPNs, and cloud network technologies, and manage all aspects of Public DNS services. Your expertise will also extend to managing a datacenter environment using Cisco ACI, ensuring that our infrastructure is robust and reliable.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure & support Cisco switches, routers, and wireless LAN controllers.
  • Utilize network management tools to monitor for network health and stability.
  • Develop and maintain current network documentation.
  • Utilize Cisco DNA Center and ISE to manage access and campus environments.
  • Assist in configuration and troubleshooting of Firewalls, VPN, and cloud network technologies.
  • Assist in managing a datacenter environment using Cisco ACI.
  • Manage all aspects of Public DNS services.

Requirements

  • Eight or more years of networking support experience with a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent, or five or more years of network support experience with a Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Cisco routing and switching technologies including routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of cabling types (fiber, transceivers) for connecting network devices.
  • Experience with load balancers, Infoblox, Meraki, MS Azure networking, a plus.
  • Ability to demonstrate a strong troubleshooting methodology.
