About the position

The Senior Network Monitoring & Automation Engineer at CoStar Group is responsible for enhancing the company's network monitoring and configuration management systems. This role involves building and maintaining advanced monitoring systems to ensure infrastructure and application availability, performance, and prompt remediation of issues. The position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams and the use of various monitoring platforms and scripting languages to automate tasks and improve network observability.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain monitoring systems for network infrastructure availability and performance monitoring.
  • Utilize various monitoring platforms (e.g., Solarwinds, PRTG, Nagios, Cisco ThousandEyes) for comprehensive network observability.
  • Create dashboards for Ops teams.
  • Develop scripts using Python or PowerShell for bespoke monitoring tasks and integration into monitoring platforms.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate monitoring solutions into existing infrastructure and applications.
  • Utilize configuration management and Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Chef) to automate deployment and configuration tasks.
  • Conduct fault analysis to identify root causes of network and application issues and implement corrective measures.
  • Manage log aggregation systems and create queries/tools for troubleshooting across the enterprise.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited, not-for-profit university or college.
  • 3+ years of experience deploying and enhancing enterprise monitoring tools.
  • 5+ years of scripting experience with Python or PowerShell.
  • 3+ years of configuration management experience supporting a large fleet of network devices and appliances.
  • Familiarity with log query languages such as KQL.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience writing Python or PowerShell scripts and building modules for business processes.
  • Familiarity with SEIM and Log Analytics tools such as Azure Log Analytics, Sentinel, LM Logs.
  • Experience with Solarwinds, OpManager, Zabbix, Nagios, or PRTG.
  • Experience managing LogicMonitor and LM Logs.
  • Experience managing Cisco ThousandEyes.
  • Experience with Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
