About the position

The Senior Network Operations Engineer at Carnegie Mellon University is responsible for providing essential support in deploying, configuring, maintaining, and monitoring LAN and WAN networks. This role is crucial for ensuring network security and connectivity, troubleshooting network issues, and supporting various network technologies and services. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and collaboration within a diverse team environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor network security and connectivity
• Gather information to evaluate networking performance, troubleshoot network problems, and identify user needs and determine network requirements
• Deploy, configure, manage, and monitor Wireless, Local Area, and Wide Area Networks
• Maintain accurate and updated documentation
• Respond to tier 3 support requests regarding network issues; troubleshoot and determine resolution for network issues
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computing Engineering/Computer Science or a combination of education and relevant work experience
• 3-5 years of Network Administration, Network Deployment and Support, and/or Network Security Administration experience
• CCNP-Cisco Certified Network Professional - Cisco Systems, Inc. preferred
• Advanced Aruba Networks experience and/or certifications desired
• Experience with cloud connectivity and service deployments and/or operations

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with other wireless vendor technologies and certifications
