About the position

This position is for a Senior Cisco Network Security Engineer at a Bay Area-based full-service IT solution provider. The role is full-time and remote, operating within Pacific Standard Time (PST) hours. The primary responsibility of the engineer will be to design, implement, and support the network security infrastructure for various customers. The ideal candidate will possess strong experience as a Network Security Engineer, particularly with Cisco technologies, and will have in-depth knowledge of Palo Alto Networks firewalls and solutions. This role is critical in ensuring that the network security measures are robust and effective in protecting the organization's and clients' data and infrastructure. The Senior Cisco Network Security Engineer will be expected to architect, design, and implement secure and scalable network security solutions. This includes project-based work that requires a deep understanding of security best practices, compliance, and regulatory requirements. The engineer will also be responsible for developing security policies, monitoring and optimizing network security performance, and providing documentation and training to other team members and clients. The position requires a proactive approach to identifying potential security threats and implementing measures to mitigate risks effectively. Candidates must hold a current CCNP Certification, which is a prerequisite for this role. Additionally, strong routing and switching experience, including knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols such as Spanning Tree, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, and DMVPN, is essential. Proven experience in designing and implementing network security solutions in complex environments is also required. The role may involve collaboration with Managed Service Providers (MSPs) or consulting experience, and having a current Cisco CCIE Security certification would be considered a plus.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience as a Network Security Engineer with a focus on Cisco technologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of Palo Alto Networks firewall and solutions.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing network security solutions in complex environments.
  • Strong understanding of security best practices, compliance, and regulatory requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • MSP or Consulting experience.
  • Current Cisco CCIE Security certification would be a plus.
