About the position

The Senior Network Security Engineer will play a crucial role in enhancing the network security framework at Zoom. This position involves collaborating with a dedicated team to drive innovation in network security, ensuring that security protocols are integrated into network changes, and leading efforts to identify and remediate vulnerabilities. The role emphasizes continuous learning and collaboration to build a secure and resilient network environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the review and implementation of network changes, ensuring that security protocols are integrated into every update to protect our infrastructure.
  • Analyze our network for potential vulnerabilities and lead remediation efforts, including the assessment and deployment of vendor security updates to safeguard our systems.
  • Provide essential support for security gateways, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and endpoint protection solutions, contributing to our overall security posture.
  • Review and assess new network technologies for their applicability, particularly in enhancing our Zoom capabilities and improving connectivity.
  • Work closely with Enterprise Security, IT, and Data Center Engineers to conduct thorough security reviews of network devices and appliances, fostering a collaborative security environment.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of team processes and security controls, helping to improve our operational efficiency.
  • Analyze existing processes and technologies to discover gaps and enhance our runbooks and operational playbooks.

Requirements

  • Over 2 years of hands-on experience with cloud environments and a strong understanding of network devices and security technologies, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and SIEM solutions.
  • 2+ years in Linux security administration and familiarity with other operating systems, focused on safeguarding systems against evolving threats.
  • In-depth knowledge of common security challenges such as DDoS attacks and insider threats, along with familiarity with network security appliances and technologies like RedSeal and FireMon for effective monitoring and management.
  • Proven ability to tackle complex challenges, breaking them down into manageable parts to devise efficient solutions.
  • Experience with automation and configuration tools such as Chef, CFENGINE, Ansible, and AWX to streamline workflows, along with proficiency in scripting languages like Shell and Python, and using SCM tools like Git.
  • Familiarity with modern software delivery tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions) and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices using Terraform and Ansible, enabling effective infrastructure management.
  • Understanding of container technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, and Helm for managing application deployments.
  • Experience in incident response and threat analysis, with knowledge of industry standards like GDPR, HIPAA, or PCI-DSS to ensure security practices meet compliance requirements.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and convey complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
