About the position

KUAC is seeking a Senior News Reporter/Producer to join our team in Fairbanks, Alaska. This part-time position requires a commitment of 20 hours per week, where the successful candidate will be responsible for producing news for local, regional, and statewide newscasts. The news will be delivered daily on KUAC FM and posted on the KUAC website. The role demands a high level of ethical, editorial, artistic, and technical standards for both broadcast and online news content. The Senior News Reporter/Producer will collaborate with news staff to develop story ideas, track significant issues and events, and meet tight deadlines. Additionally, the candidate will work closely with other news producers and reporters to ensure comprehensive news coverage. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, media, or a related field, along with a minimum of three years of professional newsroom experience. This experience should include producing newscasts, feature stories, and interviews specifically for radio. A strong understanding of journalistic practices and media ethics is essential, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills. The candidate must also demonstrate proficiency in research, news gathering, fact-checking, and writing news stories tailored for radio audiences.
