About the position

The Senior Officer-Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) position at the Office of Information Technology in Washington, DC, is responsible for leading and managing the SEC's Information Security Program. This role involves strategic oversight of cybersecurity initiatives, ensuring compliance with best practices, and continuously improving the agency's security posture. The CISO will work closely with agency management to assess IT risks, establish security policies, and oversee the Security Operations Center.

Responsibilities

• Lead, implement, monitor, and improve the SEC's Information Security Program.
• Evaluate and recommend improvements to the Agency's IT security controls.
• Establish security and privacy-related policies for internal IT management functions.
• Identify, assess, and prioritize IT risks to Agency data and systems.
• Ensure alignment and communication of CISO programs and initiatives throughout the agency.
• Oversee the Commission's Security Operations Center to ensure compliance with cybersecurity best practices.
• Conduct regular internal and external security assessments and penetration tests.
• Prepare an annual budget report for the SEC's cybersecurity program.

Requirements

• Must be a US Citizen.
• At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS/SK-14 level, overseeing a large-scale information security program.
• Demonstrated experience in real-time cyber defense incident response and managing incident response plans.
• Basic competencies in Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in building and managing cybersecurity programs and IT projects.
• Experience with complex real-time cyber exploits.
