About the position

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Operational Due Diligence Analyst - Global Manager Research for Operational Due Diligence as part of Wealth and Investment Management (WIM). In this role, you will be responsible for performing initial and ongoing operational due diligence (ODD) on third-party investment products, which include traditional equity and fixed income investments as well as alternative investments such as hedge funds, private capital, and real estate. You will participate in initial operational due diligence visits and calls with potential investment managers to evaluate their overall control environment and conduct a thorough operational risk assessment of the firms under consideration. Your responsibilities will also include producing comprehensive and detailed ODD reports in MS Word, conducting ongoing monitoring activities for the Operational Due Diligence team, and reviewing existing investment managers to evaluate their overall control environment to identify any material risks across the firm. You will draft communications to the field as needed and deliver presentations related to ODD activities to the GMR Due Diligence Committee. Additionally, you will participate in industry events and seminars to stay current in the area of Operational Due Diligence. This position requires a strong background in Retail Investment Research, with a minimum of 4 years of experience or equivalent demonstrated through a combination of work experience, training, military experience, and education. The ideal candidate will have experience as an Operational Due Diligence Analyst at a bank, fund of funds, or other investment platform, and direct experience in investment manager research covering equity, fixed income, or alternative investment managers. A background in investment accounting/audit, compliance, or risk management at a financial institution is also desirable. Strong qualitative and analytical skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Perform initial and ongoing operational due diligence (ODD) on third-party investment products covering traditional equity and fixed income investments as well as alternative investments such as hedge funds, private capital, and real estate.
  • Participate in initial operational due diligence visits and calls with potential investment managers to evaluate their overall control environment and perform a thorough operational risk assessment of the firm under consideration.
  • Produce comprehensive and detailed ODD reports in MS Word.
  • Conduct ongoing monitoring activities for the Operational Due Diligence team, which includes reviewing existing investment managers to evaluate their overall control environment to identify any material risks across the firm.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of Retail Investment Research experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
  • Operational Due Diligence (ODD) Analyst experience at a bank, fund of funds, or other investment platform.
  • Direct experience in investment manager research covering equity, fixed income, or alternative investment managers.
  • Background in investment accounting/audit, compliance, or risk management at a financial institution.
  • Strong qualitative and analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • BS/BA degree or higher in accounting, finance, or economics.
  • JD degree and/or CPA.
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment.
  • Intermediate MS Office, specifically Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint skills.
  • Ability to interact and effectively communicate with senior leadership to build collaborative relationships and present findings.
  • Excellent written communication skills in order to present thorough and detailed findings.
