About the position

SAIC is seeking a mid-level analyst to join our Analytic Outreach team in the Chantilly, VA area. This role is pivotal in designing, developing, and executing analytic games, tabletop exercises, and workshops aimed at assisting members of the Intelligence Community (IC) and Department of Defense (DoD) in exploring new and emerging national security issues. The analyst will be responsible for testing real-world and hypothetical scenarios, evaluating the effectiveness of policies and strategies, and proactively identifying risks and opportunities for the U.S. and its allies. The position involves the development of conferences that bring together members of the DoD, IC, state and local government, academia, and commercial industry to address critical topics such as cybersecurity and the defense of critical infrastructure. The analyst will leverage their expertise in international relations, operations research, economics, political science, military analysis, and exercise/conference planning to contribute to these initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess a strong writing ability and will be interested in conducting research to support the development of background materials, scenarios, trends assessments, and analytic reports. This role requires comfort in working directly with customers to help refine objectives and derive key intelligence questions, ensuring that the analytic outreach efforts are aligned with the needs of the stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and execute analytic games, tabletop exercises, and workshops for the IC and DoD.
  • Assist in exploring new and emerging national security issues through various analytic methods.
  • Test real-world and hypothetical scenarios to evaluate the effectiveness of policies and strategies.
  • Proactively identify risks and opportunities for the U.S. and its allies.
  • Develop conferences that bring together members of the DoD, IC, state and local government, academia, and commercial industry.
  • Address key topics such as cybersecurity and defense of critical infrastructure.
  • Conduct research to support the development of background materials, scenarios, trends assessments, and analytic reports.
  • Work directly with customers to refine objectives and derive key intelligence questions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years or more experience, or Master's degree and 3 years or more experience.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance.
  • 5+ years of experience with modeling, simulations, operations research, or conference/event planning.
  • Strong writing ability for developing reports and materials.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly MS Word and MS PowerPoint.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience writing finished intelligence or DoD products.
  • Experience developing scenarios or player-based analytic games to test hypotheses.
