About the position

The Senior Operations Analyst for Revenue Cycle at Mayo Clinic is a pivotal role that involves planning and managing large-scale projects within the Enterprise Revenue Cycle. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of operations, processes, systems, regulations, clinical practices, and payers. The analyst will coordinate resources to implement new systems, programs, and processes, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget. This role also involves providing detailed project design documentation, project plans, and process flows to present to leadership, guiding and supporting various teams throughout the project lifecycle. In addition to project management, the Senior Operations Analyst will conduct complex business analyses for significant process, quality, and improvement initiatives across Mayo Clinic's three group practices and the Mayo Health System. The analyst will lead and facilitate process improvement initiatives, analyze and redesign workflows and systems to enhance quality and efficiency, and manage the implementation of these changes. Regular updates to senior leadership will be necessary, along with making key decisions that impact the Enterprise Revenue Cycle. The role also includes collaboration with Systems Services and Information Technology staff to design, develop, and implement new business processes and system applications. The analyst will lead effective meetings and workgroups, negotiate to resolve issues, and specify resources needed for project completion. Mentorship and development of staff are also key components of this position, as is maintaining knowledge of the current healthcare environment and presenting at conferences and user group meetings. The analyst must ensure a control environment is maintained to uphold Mayo's Standard of Ethics and minimize financial and legal risks.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and manages large projects within the Enterprise Revenue Cycle.
  • Coordinates resources to implement new systems, programs, and processes.
  • Provides detailed project design documentation, project plans, and process flows to leadership.
  • Guides and supports projects, process implementation, and training teams.
  • Conducts and facilitates complex business analysis for large process improvement projects.
  • Coordinates teams to ensure project efforts are completed on time and within budget.
  • Analyzes, designs, and redesigns processes, workflows, and systems for quality and efficiency.
  • Leads and facilitates process improvement initiatives.
  • Participates in the design, development, and implementation of new business processes and system applications.
  • Leads effective meetings and workgroups with participants throughout Mayo Clinic.
  • Collaborates with leadership to resolve Enterprise Revenue Cycle and compliance issues.
  • Mentors and develops staff, maintaining knowledge of the current healthcare environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Relevant experience in Finance Revenue Cycle or Healthcare.
  • Knowledge of Payer policies regarding Revenue Cycle and claim processing is preferred.
  • Previous healthcare experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in Project Management is required.
  • Extensive knowledge of physician and hospital billing systems for various payers is preferred.
  • Customer-service oriented with timely responses to requests for service/information.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities independently.
  • Possess leadership skills and knowledge of revenue cycle systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Contractual experience in Revenue Cycle management.
  • Experience with governmental, managed care, and commercial payers.
