About the position

The Senior Operations Manager at Target's Sortation Center in Minneapolis is responsible for leading operations with a focus on safety, continuous improvement, and strategic thinking. This role is critical in ensuring efficient product distribution to guests, fostering a culture of safety, and driving performance through effective team management and process optimization. The manager will utilize metrics and Lean Six Sigma methodologies to enhance productivity and quality while supporting team members in achieving their goals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead operations with a focus on safety and continuous improvement.
  • Foster a safety-first culture through training and accountability.
  • Guide operational leaders to achieve service, quality, accuracy, and productivity standards.
  • Utilize key metrics and Lean Six Sigma to identify areas for improvement.
  • Motivate and inspire team members by understanding their unique strengths.
  • Set individual and team priorities and structure resources accordingly.
  • Communicate effectively to present the big picture and expectations.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Engineering, Technology, Operations, or related field, or 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing, production, or distribution environment with management experience.
  • Experience with performance metrics and process improvement.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to motivate others and manage conflicts effectively.
  • Experience with the full staffing lifecycle including hiring and performance management.
  • Flexibility to work various hours including overnight, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to access all areas of the Distribution Center and interpret policies and procedures.
