About the position

As a Senior Operations Specialist at Waste Management, you will provide advanced clerical and administrative support to departmental managers while coordinating all aspects of daily operations. This role is designed for individuals with significant experience in administrative and operational support, allowing you to perform at a higher level of responsibility with minimal supervision compared to entry-level positions. Your duties will be varied and may include complex tasks that require problem-solving skills. You will be responsible for resolving most questions and issues independently, referring only the most complex matters to higher management. In this position, you will assist in troubleshooting and resolving safety, service, and operational issues. You will create, distribute, and close out customer tickets daily, ensuring that all department-related information is maintained and distributed effectively. Communication is key, as you will liaise with other supervisors and managers regarding operations and dispatch issues. You will also be tasked with completing and maintaining various reports as directed by the department manager, utilizing software tools to manage tasks related to procurement, time and attendance, safety incidents, and contract labor. Additionally, you will assist with data collection and reporting for incentive pay programs, process payments, and handle other financial tasks as necessary. Your role may also involve entering and maintaining Service Machine SMART data daily. This position does not include supervisory responsibilities, allowing you to focus on operational support and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Provides advanced clerical and administrative support to departmental managers.
  • Assists in troubleshooting and resolving safety, service, and operational issues.
  • Creates, distributes, and closes-out customer tickets on a daily basis.
  • Maintains and distributes department-related information on a daily basis.
  • Communicates with other supervisors and managers about operations and/or dispatch issues.
  • Completes and maintains a variety of reports as directed by the department manager.
  • Uses software tools to manage tasks such as procurement, time and attendance, safety incidents, and contract labor.
  • Assists with data collection and reporting for incentive pay programs.
  • Processes payments and other financial tasks as necessary.
  • Assists in the implementation of operational projects as needed.
  • Communicates with customers about service issues as needed.
  • Communicates with employees about scheduling and work assignments as needed.
  • Enters and maintains Service Machine SMART data on a daily basis.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. (accredited).
  • Three years of relevant work experience in a comparable role.
  • Knowledge and practical ability to use a computer and Microsoft Office software.
