The Senior Operations Supervisor at Penske Logistics is responsible for providing operational leadership to the hourly workforce and individual contributors in the supply chain and logistics sector. This role involves overseeing daily tasks and activities, including driver deliveries, loading and unloading of trailers, cross docking, and customer service operations, ensuring that all activities align with the company's service standards and cost objectives. The supervisor will directly manage most processes, including workforce and equipment scheduling, and will be responsible for making corrective actions and disciplinary decisions, up to the level of written warnings. Additionally, the supervisor will participate in the hiring process and customer meetings as necessary, ensuring that the operations meet the needs of the customers while adhering to company policies. The position requires a thorough review of truck runs based on various factors such as account locations, volume, costs, customer requirements, and private fleet utilization. The supervisor will also review daily orders to identify additional private fleet opportunities. The work schedule is Monday to Friday from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, with hours subject to change based on business needs. The salary for this position ranges from $82,000 to $85,000, with eligibility for a bonus of up to 12% of the base salary. In this role, the supervisor will communicate performance standards that are specific and measurable, interview hourly associates, monitor attendance and productivity, and provide necessary counseling or recognition. They will supervise logistics operations, evaluate and recommend changes to improve productivity, assist in training new associates, and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures. Safety is a critical aspect of this role, requiring the supervisor to align daily management activities with the location's safety strategy and ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and company policies. The supervisor will also focus on customer experience, understanding specific customer goals and objectives, and identifying areas for continuous improvement. Proper planning of work assignments to ensure effective use of fleet and warehouse equipment is also a key responsibility.
