About the position

The Senior Operations Systems Analyst will play a crucial role in supporting various functions associated with the development, testing, training, communication, and enhancements of the SMART system and other related systems as necessary. This position requires close collaboration with department managers to ensure the successful delivery of projects while maintaining the highest standards of quality. The ideal candidate will possess strong technology skills, a solid understanding of the financial industry, and a genuine desire to make a significant impact on Janney Operations. In this role, the analyst will be responsible for managing ongoing system development, effectively coordinating with both internal and external stakeholders. The candidate should demonstrate exceptional problem-solving and critical thinking abilities, approaching challenges with optimism and a solutions-based mindset. Effective decision-making skills are essential, as the analyst will need to identify gaps and opportunities, making timely decisions that align with business objectives. Building relationships is another key aspect of this role. The analyst will connect with others to foster trust and create collaborative relationships, anticipating potential issues and alerting the respective Financial Advisor (FA) and/or Branch Management as necessary. The responsibilities of the position are divided into several key areas, including platform support, project execution, quality assurance, and team support, all aimed at enhancing operational workflows and improving service to clients.

Responsibilities

  • Program and design enhancements to workflow
  • Review and validate criteria used for systems workflow and controls
  • Perform workflow and trading system maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Research reported workflow errors and address issues
  • Manage production installs and provide technical support
  • Oversee vendor relationship management
  • Design and implement enhancements to Janney's operational workflow system, IFS
  • Prioritize projects and agenda based on client feedback and business needs
  • Design effective SMART workflow
  • Collaborate with business partners to define and document requirements
  • Organize successful and thorough testing efforts
  • Lead projects using an agile project management methodology
  • Plan firm-wide communications
  • Develop an effective control environment in collaboration with department managers
  • Design and perform audits, resolve issues, and proactively recommend improvements to operational processes, policies, and procedures
  • Create and maintain queries and custom reports
  • Participate in strategic decision-making related to operations workflow
  • Coordinate field and associate training on new releases

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree preferably in Business, Finance, or Information Technology or equivalent experience in Financial Services Operations or the financial industry
  • Three or more years of Operations System support/development experience preferred
  • Series 99 license a plus, but not required
  • Demonstrated success leading projects of varying complexity from inception to completion
  • Project Management expertise using agile project management methodology
  • Strong ability to problem solve and provide solutions in a timely manner
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Knowledge/experience using IFS preferred
  • Knowledge/experience using iGrafx preferred
  • Knowledge/experience using SQL preferred
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and all levels of management
  • Excellent client service skills
