About the position

This position is part of the Digital Process Systems team within the Harris Nuclear Plant Engineering organization at Duke Energy. The role involves managing cybersecurity for operational assets, ensuring compliance with enterprise cybersecurity requirements, and supporting various plant control and data acquisition systems. The analyst will work independently on complex projects, demonstrating advanced skills in cybersecurity processes and their impact on generating systems and the electric grid.

Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day activities in support of cyber security program and policies, including maintenance, support of new installations, and upgrades.
  • Assess and respond to complex distributed control system (DCS) cyber security events and incidents.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance in identifying, analyzing, and resolving problems for digital control and data acquisition systems.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain support for various plant digital systems and firewalls.
  • Support Plant Operations staff on issues with plant digital systems.
  • Collaborate with vendors on hardware/software issues related to Plant Process Digital systems.
  • Conduct Cyber and DPS reviews for Engineering Change (EC) development.
  • Provide inputs to budgets and long-range plans.
  • Complete non-routine technical projects with minimal oversight, managing project schedules and interfaces.
  • Serve as a member of the HNP Cyber Security Assessment Team (CSAT).
  • Plan and execute work orders and work requests through established work management systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity or related technical discipline.
  • 5 years related work experience with required degree, or High School/GED and 10 years of direct related experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous Nuclear Cyber Security experience and familiarity with related NEI guidance.
  • Experience performing Cyber Security reviews for Plant Engineering Changes.
  • Experience performing Cyber Security Threat Vulnerability evaluations.
  • Ability to mentor others related to Cyber Security qualifications (CSS, CSAT, etc.).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer networks (Ethernet, TCP/IP, UDP/IP, switches, routers, firewalls, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of operating systems such as Windows Server and Linux.
  • Knowledge of OSI/PI historian and real-time/data acquisition/control systems.
