About the position

The Senior Oracle Database Administrator at Broadridge will play a crucial role in the design, build, run, and modernization of database systems. This position is part of a senior technical team responsible for ensuring database security, high availability, and recoverability. The role involves routine database administration tasks, performance tuning, and collaboration with application development and infrastructure teams, all while working in a hybrid environment that requires in-office attendance twice a week.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine database administration tasks, including installation, configuration, migration, patches, and upgrades of database systems.
  • Identify and resolve database performance issues, including tuning SQL queries, optimizing indexing, and implementing necessary database changes.
  • Conduct ongoing monitoring and proactive management of database systems to ensure high availability and performance.
  • Support database backup and recovery activities, ensuring appropriate backup strategies and disaster recovery plans are in place.
  • Collaborate with application development and infrastructure teams to provide database support for applications and projects.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related incidents and problems, both independently and in collaboration with other technical teams.
  • Provide operational support, including capacity planning, system performance analysis, and resource utilization monitoring.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to database administration procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation schedule to ensure 24/7 availability and response to critical incidents.
  • Provide support for database-related incidents, working closely with the Incident management and escalation teams.

Requirements

  • 5+ years as an Oracle Database Administrator with skills in database design, configurations, logical and physical data modeling, stored procedures, monitoring, upgrade, patching, security, backup/recovery, and data integrity.
  • Strong proficiency in Oracle Server Database management, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with advanced Linux OS commands and automation tools, along with demonstrated UNIX scripting/Python skills.
  • Knowledge of Oracle internals, Clustering, Data Guard, HA, Partitioning, and In-Memory.
  • Experience in other RDBMS or NoSQL database technologies such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MarkLogic, MongoDB, Datastax, Couchbase, etc.
  • Knowledgeable of AWS/Cloud Technologies and work within private/public cloud environments.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with automation of database tasks for continuous service improvement.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with vendors and other support teams to articulate issues and collaborate throughout the troubleshooting process.
