About the position

The Senior Oracle Database Administrator plays a critical role in supporting the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) under the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. This position focuses on managing and optimizing various database systems, ensuring their performance, availability, and security in compliance with organizational and government standards. The role requires a strong background in database administration, security, and the ability to provide technical guidance to junior staff.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain Oracle, DB2, Cassandra, and MongoDB database systems.
  • Deploy, upgrade, patch, and troubleshoot Oracle WebLogic.
  • Ensure the performance, availability, and security of database environments.
  • Manage database installation, configuration, and upgrades.
  • Monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues proactively.
  • Implement and enforce database security policies and procedures.
  • Develop and optimize SQL queries and database performance.
  • Plan and execute backup and recovery strategies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align database systems with business needs.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior database administrators.

Requirements

  • Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience: HS Diploma (or GED) and 16 years of general experience; Associate's degree and 14 years of general experience; Bachelor's degree and 12 years of general experience; Master's degree and 10 years of general experience.
  • Minimum of 9 years of experience as a Database Administrator, with expertise in Oracle, DB2, Cassandra, and MongoDB.
  • Must have 3 years of experience in management or leadership roles.
  • Must have an active DoD Secret clearance or higher.
  • Must have a DoD IAT Level II certification (Security +).
  • Must have an Oracle, DB2, Cassandra, or MongoDB certification.

  • Strong knowledge of SQL and database performance tuning.
  • Experience with database security concepts and government standards.
