This role encompasses all aspects of database administration for Oracle and Snowflake databases, focusing on problem-solving, configuration, and implementation efforts for multiple projects. The emphasis is on operational excellence and continuous improvement of database-related processes and procedures. The Senior Database Administrator will regularly review production database performance reports, identifying potential performance bottlenecks, including SQL and PL/SQL code execution, and will collaborate with Storage and UNIX teams to remediate issues before they impact operations. In addition to performance monitoring, the role involves engaging in new technology initiatives and performing database server hardware upgrades to maximize return on investment (ROI). The Senior Database Administrator will participate in triage calls, driven to identify root causes of issues, providing analysis data to other teams, and actively troubleshooting during outages. The position also requires reviewing critical database parameters, recommending adjustments, and managing cross-platform database migrations, including documenting the various steps involved. The Senior Database Administrator will implement high availability solutions for databases and work closely with development teams for SQL and PL/SQL code tuning, as well as schema design updates identified during pre-production installations. Researching and implementing proof of concept (POC) solutions for new features of the latest database technologies is also a key responsibility. Maintaining data security is paramount, and the administrator will ensure databases are secure while communicating any security loopholes to the security team. Additionally, the role includes participating in an on-call support rotation for production databases that require 24/7/365 availability.
