About the position

The Senior Oracle Database Administrator is responsible for ensuring the integrity, security, and stability of Oracle databases within the Indiana Office of Technology. This role involves monitoring and tuning database performance, implementing backup strategies, and supporting the infrastructure for Oracle databases. The Administrator will also assist in evaluating and selecting technology components to enhance database operations and ensure data availability and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and advise on standards, guidelines, policies, and procedures for database integrity.
  • Evaluate technology and products for agency standards.
  • Develop work plans for assigned projects and manage execution.
  • Support Oracle Exadata-engineered systems.
  • Configure and maintain Oracle Goldengate replication between Oracle databases.
  • Monitor and tune database performance including SQL scripts and execution plans.
  • Administer end-user access and security at the database level.
  • Ensure data protection through backup strategies.

Requirements

  • Expert in administering multi-terabyte, 24x7 uptime Oracle databases as a Systems/Infrastructure Database Administrator.
  • Expertise in software and utilities related to supported DBMS such as Reorg, Backup, Recovery, Load, and Unload.
  • Capacity planning and disaster recovery experience.
  • Knowledge of relational databases and data warehouse design techniques.
  • Familiarity with Oracle features such as RAC, ASM, Active Data Guard, OEM, and Golden Gate replication.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Experience with Oracle versions 11gR1/2, 12c, and 19c in Windows and Linux environments.
  • Strong understanding of database architecture and performance tuning.
  • Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware and Citrix.
  • Experience with Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN).
