About the position

The Senior Oracle DBA plays a critical role within the Digital Service Delivery organization at Mastercard, focusing on database management and automation. This position involves leading initiatives, gathering requirements, and implementing database designs while ensuring best practices and governance in database engineering. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with global teams to enhance database performance and reliability, driving innovation and continuous improvement in database operations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a wide variety of databases, particularly focusing on backup and recovery, performance tuning, and high availability configuration.
  • Lead initiatives and collaborate with other DBAs on internal projects.
  • Provide consulting and guidance on database domain strategy and best practices to development teams.
  • Plan and coordinate data migrations between systems.
  • Review new tools and products that assist in providing database support and services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems or equivalent experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of database management including installation, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring.
  • Strong working knowledge of RDBMS and NoSQL databases with relevant certifications.
  • Hands-on experience with database tuning and troubleshooting.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Oracle replication implementation and Oracle internals.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with multiple database technologies including Oracle, MS-SQL Server, PostgreSQL, DB2, Cassandra, and Redis.
  • Understanding of CAP theorem and its implementation in NoSQL technologies.
  • Expertise in managing Redis cache.
