About the position

The Senior Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) at International Logic Systems, Inc. (ILS) is responsible for managing, optimizing, and ensuring the security and efficiency of Oracle databases. This role requires extensive experience with Oracle database versions and tools, focusing on maintaining high availability and optimal performance of database systems. The DBA will oversee complex database environments, implement backup and recovery strategies, and support both development and production environments.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the installation, configuration, maintenance, and upgrades of Oracle databases on various operating systems.
• Utilize tools like AWR, ADDM, and SQL tuning to monitor and enhance database performance and optimize SQL queries.
• Implement and maintain robust backup and recovery strategies using RMAN and Oracle Data Pump to ensure data integrity and availability.
• Configure and manage Oracle Data Guard, RAC, and other high availability solutions to ensure minimal downtime.
• Ensure database security in compliance with industry standards; manage user access, roles, and privileges.
• Use Oracle Enterprise Manager and other monitoring tools to proactively identify and resolve database issues.
• Assist developers with database design, efficient SQL coding, and data loading processes.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts for routine database maintenance tasks using Shell scripting or PL/SQL.
• Maintain accurate documentation for database configurations, processes, and changes.
• Quickly troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues, ensuring minimal impact on production.

Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of experience as an Oracle DBA, with expertise in managing Oracle 12c, 19c, and newer versions.
• Current Oracle Database Administration certification (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional [OCP] on Oracle Database 19c or 21c).
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proficient in Oracle tools such as Oracle SQL*Loader, SQL Developer, Oracle Data Pump, RMAN, Oracle Grid Infrastructure (ASM), and Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM 13c or higher).
• Experience with Oracle RAC, Data Guard, and ASM for high availability.
• Strong understanding of database security, backup, and recovery best practices.
• Proficiency in scripting languages like Shell and PL/SQL.
• Advanced knowledge of performance tuning methodologies using tools like STATSPACK, AWR, ADDM, and TKPROF.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to perform root cause analysis for performance or system issues.
• Strong communication skills for working with cross-functional teams and documenting technical processes.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with SQL Server or DB2 is a plus.
