About the position

Peraton is seeking a Senior Oracle GoldenGate Database Administrator (OGG DBA) to join the Department of State's Consular Affairs Enterprise Infrastructure Operations Program. The OGG DBA will implement and optimize database systems, ensuring the security and integrity of a global 24x7 OLTP database environment. This role involves managing Oracle GoldenGate for data replication, conducting performance tuning, and overseeing database projects and backups. The position requires collaboration with various teams to enhance database management and support modernization initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and optimize computerized database systems to support daily operations.
  • Conduct performance tuning of indexes and databases.
  • Review database design and integration of systems.
  • Provide backup recovery and make recommendations for enhancements.
  • Maintain security and integrity controls of databases.
  • Formulate policies, procedures, and standards related to database management.
  • Monitor transaction activity and utilization.
  • Develop stored procedures and triggers using SQL and PL/SQL commands.
  • Oversee scheduling of database projects and backups.
  • Administer Oracle Exadata Engineering Systems and ZDLRA Engineering backup systems.
  • Review technical designs and documentation produced by staff.
  • Create and maintain high-level reporting systems using Oracle BI publisher.
  • Research and implement new databases and online technology.
  • Lead disaster recovery and performance analysis for database environments.
  • Facilitate the full life cycle implementation of Oracle RDBMS and GoldenGate data replication.
  • Manage Oracle GoldenGate in a multi-platform environment.
  • Implement Oracle GoldenGate for Big Data in cloud environments.
  • Upgrade Oracle RAC databases and configure replications.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship and an active SECRET government security clearance with the ability to obtain Top Secret clearance.
  • At least seven years of experience in a similar role.
  • Experience as an Oracle 12c, 19c, and 21c database administrator.
  • Specific knowledge of RAC, ASM, GoldenGate, Data Guard, RMAN, and security vulnerability remediation.
  • Experience upgrading and migrating Oracle databases from 19c to 21c or 23ai.
  • Foundational knowledge of Agile/Scrum processes.
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize and balance tasks.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience supporting federal agency's Oracle Data Replication modernization initiatives.
  • Experience with Oracle Cloud Computing or databases in AWS or Azure.
  • Experience with Oracle Engineered Systems like Exadata and Sun Super Cluster.
  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certification.
