About the position

The Senior Paralegal Corporate at Cooper University Health Care plays a crucial role in supporting the legal affairs department by performing a variety of paralegal duties with a focus on corporate and litigation matters. This position operates independently with limited supervision from the Deputy General Counsel, ensuring that all legal processes are handled efficiently and effectively. The Senior Paralegal is responsible for conducting legal research, preparing contracts, and reviewing and preparing changes to transactional matters, which are essential for the smooth operation of the organization’s legal framework. In the corporate domain, the Senior Paralegal will manage corporate books, assist with professional services agreements, and prepare Business Associate Agreements. They will also review IT agreements, managed care agreements, and EEOC correspondence. Additionally, this role involves assisting with the Agreements with Referral Sources Committee and providing support to attorneys in matters related to guardianships and involuntary commitments. The Senior Paralegal will also be tasked with special projects as assigned by an attorney, showcasing their ability to adapt and contribute to various legal initiatives. On the litigation side, the Senior Paralegal will review and summarize litigation matters, conduct investigations, and prepare discovery materials. They will be responsible for organizing and maintaining all correspondence, billing, and email responses related to litigation matters. This includes coordinating and scheduling depositions for various types of cases, placing litigation holds on patient records for pending events, and managing insurance reporting for all reportable events, including medical malpractice and employment matters. The Senior Paralegal will also review and disburse subpoenas for fact witness depositions and record requests, and assist the Claims Manager in preparing for coders and auditors, as well as for Committee meetings and other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • 5-6 years of law firm or in-house experience.
  • Associates degree in a relevant field.
  • Completion of a Paralegal Certificate Program.
  • Certified Paralegal certification.
