About the position

Smurfit WestRock is seeking a seasoned Paralegal with excellent organizational and time management skills to support our corporate and litigation attorneys. This role requires a high degree of professionalism, confidentiality, and attention to detail. The Paralegal will support Corporate Functions and/or Litigation attorneys, including c-suite executives, in managing all aspects of litigation and regulatory practice with a focus on matter support. This includes handling sensitive and confidential information that requires a high level of discretion, managing deadlines, tracking substantive matter developments, and case investigation and support. The Paralegal will interact daily with employees, in-house and outside counsel, and will be responsible for investigating and gathering evidence to author the first draft of legal documents and letters to be used by lawyers. In addition, the Paralegal will oversee and manage responses to subpoenas and other service of process as assigned, assist with special projects and training as needed, and support other legal activities such as separation and settlement agreements, reimbursements, and collections. The role also involves creating and managing matters in a matter management and e-billing database, with experience in Legal Tracker being a plus. The Paralegal will manage litigation holds, custodian interviews, document collection and production while working with outside counsel, e-discovery vendors, and internal IT resources. Furthermore, the Paralegal will generate Excel documents and PowerPoint presentations quarterly for leadership and finance reviews, requiring comfort with math and numbers. The work is performed in the Sandy Springs office, with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office, and hours are between 8 am - 6 pm.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university is required.
  • Paralegal Certificate from an accredited Paralegal Program and NALA certification is strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years' law firm experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with a wide range of subject matter areas; employment law experience is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment; well-organized and able to manage multiple and changing priorities.
  • Strong internal and external communication skills and ability to work with remote managers and business leaders.
  • Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment.
  • Energized by change and interested in creating solutions through technology resources.
  • Excellent written and analytical skills.
  • A self-starter able to maintain professional decorum.
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, TEAMS, and PowerPoint.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Legal Tracker or similar matter management and e-billing database.
