About the position

Creighton University is seeking to hire a Senior Patient Coordinator for the School of Dentistry Patient Care Coordinator Oral Surgery Team. The ideal candidate will be empathetic, flexible, and customer service driven. This is a full-time, 11-month role, usually Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. Bilingual in English and Spanish languages is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Answer inbound calls regarding appointments for Oral Surgery and field calls to answer frequently asked questions regarding processes of services provided by the Oral Surgery department.
  • Verify and register new patients into electronic health care records by requesting and verifying demographic information.
  • Track, coordinate, and communicate an average of 75 patient referrals per month from outside providers.
  • Call to confirm upcoming appointments for patients and review protocols with patients to ensure awareness of the school's quality of care standards.
  • Maintain schedule and appoint patients for the assigned student and postgraduate resident while on rotation to ensure proper cases are scheduled due to the complexity of patient care.
  • Work in conjunction with the Finance department to obtain insurance pre-authorizations for patients before their appointments.
  • Schedule emergency patients into the Oral Surgery department for emergent procedures in conjunction with faculty from the Acute Care Department.

Requirements

  • Bilingual, Spanish preferred but all applicants will be considered.
  • Minimum of High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years related experience.
  • Knowledge of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  • Knowledge of Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional customer service required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
  • Must possess accurate, detailed, and strong organizational skills and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to operate a computer and Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel.
  • Flexibility in scheduling based on operational needs.
