About the position

The Senior Patient & Family Concierge at UPMC Horizon is responsible for providing compassionate service and support to patients, families, and visitors during their hospital stay. This full-time role focuses on enhancing patient and guest satisfaction through various responsibilities, including destination coordination, environmental services, dietary services, transportation services, supply and equipment management, and administrative support. The position requires working between the hours of 7 a.m. and 11 p.m., including every other weekend and holiday.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and families warmly, providing direction and escort assistance to ensure they reach their destination.
• Disseminates patient information to visitors while respecting confidentiality and hospital policies.
• Cleans and organizes assigned areas, including patient rooms and public spaces, following established procedures.
• Assembles and serves meals according to dietary requirements, ensuring food safety and quality.
• Transports patients and equipment safely and accurately between designated areas.
• Orders and manages unit-specific supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate inventory.
• Completes administrative functions, including scheduling patient tests and managing patient charts.

Requirements

• High School diploma or one year of previous job experience in lieu of HS Diploma/GED.
• 6 months of experience as a Patient & Family Concierge or equivalent role.
• Demonstrated competency in all responsibilities of the Patient & Family Concierge role.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

• Completion of annual contributions such as committee participation or onboarding of new staff.
