About the position

The Senior Patient Services Representative at Houston Methodist is responsible for enhancing the patient visit experience through effective check-in/check-out processes and appointment scheduling. This role involves complex scheduling tasks, mentoring less experienced staff, and ensuring timely claims submission while supporting various operational functions within the department.

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient check in/check out functions and appointment scheduling.
  • Coordinate patient flow and manage scheduling complexities.
  • Serve as a role model and mentor for less experienced staff.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and team members to resolve issues.
  • Generate reports and assist with department correspondence.
  • Ensure compliance with patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
  • Educate patients regarding billing processes and financial responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent education.
  • Five years of experience, including three years in a related healthcare role.
  • Strong customer service, phone, and scheduling skills.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in electronic medical record systems.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology and revenue cycle components.
