About the position

The Senior Payroll Compliance Analyst at Stanford Children's Health is responsible for ensuring payroll compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour regulations. This role involves overseeing retirement plan contributions, resolving payroll issues, and implementing payroll policies and processes. The analyst serves as a subject matter expert in payroll compliance, collaborates with various teams, and conducts audits to ensure adherence to legal requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance of payroll with federal, state, and local wage and hour rules and regulations.
  • Oversee retirement plan contributions to ensure they are complete, accurate, and timely.
  • Resolve payroll issues in a timely manner and recommend solutions for compliance with wage/hour laws.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of payroll policies and processes.
  • Conduct testing and develop test plans for payroll systems modifications.
  • Create and validate payroll-related resources and guides for accuracy.
  • Collaborate with HR Benefits team regarding retirement plan updates and changes.
  • Provide Tier 2 support for payroll-related issues across the enterprise.
  • Conduct audits and prepare reports for payroll compliance and retirement plan contributions.
  • Communicate effectively with HR Compliance and senior leaders regarding payroll issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business from an accredited college or university or equivalent.
  • Seven (7) years of progressively responsible payroll experience, including experience with 401(k), 403(b), and 457(b) audits.
  • Strong knowledge of Wage and Hour compliance and federal/state payroll regulations.
  • Experience working with third-party retirement plan recordkeepers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, with mastery level skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with payroll systems implementations and cloud ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of IRS Correction Methodology related to retirement plans.
  • Ability to conduct quantitative/qualitative analysis.
