About the position

The Senior Payroll Coordinator will play a crucial role in supporting the Payroll Manager and HR department at an established investment management firm in New York City. This position involves administering payroll for employees, resolving payroll-related issues, and continuously seeking improvements in payroll processes. Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the Payroll Manager and HR department in administering payroll for employees.
  • Resolve any issues that may arise and continuously look for improvements in payroll operational processes.
  • Perform a wide variety of record keeping and payroll processing activities.
  • Prepare and process semimonthly payroll.
  • Maintain all personnel, deduction, and benefit changes in the HRIS system (Lawson).
  • Prepare general ledger entries and payroll funding requests for the Corporate Accounting department.
  • Assist in open and new enrollment processes or changes in benefit administration as needed.
  • Maintain payroll-related HR forms and documents.
  • Prepare and post pay stubs.
  • Manage NYC Commuter Transit program.
  • Compute wage prorations, deductions, overtime payments, and other associated payroll calculations.
  • Inspect automated system output such as registers and standard reports.
  • Determine and correct out-of-balance conditions.
  • Prepare and file tax returns and W-2s.
  • Gather payroll data for inclusion in financial statements.
  • Conduct research and prepare special reports for audit requests for management.
  • Process new hires and terminations.
  • Process accurate and timely year-end reporting when necessary.
  • Develop ad hoc financial and operational reporting as needed.
  • Audit payroll balance sheets, YTD earnings, etc.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience in payroll processing and payroll tax (multistate).
  • Familiarity with W-2 end of year processing.
  • Experience with ERP systems.
