About the position

The Chicago White Sox organization is looking for a Senior Payroll Coordinator to join their accounting team. This role is essential for processing payroll and ensuring compliance with payroll regulations in a dynamic sports environment. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, adaptable, and a strong team player, with a focus on accuracy and efficiency in payroll processing and tax filing.

Responsibilities

  • Process payroll for administrative, hourly, and seasonal staff.
  • Coordinate timekeeping for hourly employees.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Resolve payroll-related discrepancies and issues.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
  • Perform all aspects of tax reporting for multi-state payroll including making tax deposits, filing tax returns, and responding to notices.
  • Prepare payroll data for posting to general ledger.
  • Complete monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Assist with GAAP audit requests for payroll related transactions.
  • Prepare information for PPACA reporting utilizing data from Payroll/HR system.
  • Assist with workers' compensation audit reporting.
  • Other tasks related to payroll reporting, analytics, and data management.

Requirements

  • A four-year undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • 4+ years relevant work experience.
  • Prior experience in the sports industry a plus, but not required.
  • Working knowledge of basic accounting concepts.
  • Good working knowledge of payroll practices and payroll tax compliance.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to exercise confidentiality and discretion.
  • Ability to work on site 5 days a week.
  • Experience working with UKG a plus.
