About the position

As a Senior Payroll Specialist at L'Oréal, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Payroll Manager in executing the monthly payroll cycle for employees across the UK, Ireland, the Isle of Man, and Jersey. This position requires a seasoned payroll professional who can manage the complexities of payroll processing for over 3,000 employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all relevant legislation. You will be working closely with Alight, our payroll vendor, to address any systems and interface issues that may arise, while also collaborating with various HR teams to ensure a seamless payroll operation. In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for not only processing payroll but also for leading initiatives to improve payroll systems and processes. This includes conducting monthly payroll reconciliations, mentoring team members, and educating stakeholders on payroll deadlines and new legislation. Your expertise will be vital in ensuring that payroll calculations are executed accurately and that all reporting and compliance duties are completed in a timely manner. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to process improvements and drive innovation within the payroll function. Responsibilities

  • Process the monthly payroll for over 3,000 employees across the UK and Ireland, IOM, and Jersey.
  • Lead on systems and interfaces issues, collaborating closely with the HRIS team.
  • Ensure all reporting and compliance duties are completed timely and accurately.
  • Liaise with other HR teams to ensure full collaboration and smooth running of the payroll.
  • Upskill, educate, and communicate certain processes/procedures to stakeholders regarding payroll deadlines and new legislation.
  • Mentor team members and support the Payroll Manager with cross-training initiatives.
  • Provide expertise in payroll processes to ensure accurate calculations by the payroll vendor.
  • Conduct monthly payroll reconciliations across both UK and Ireland payrolls.
  • Support process improvements such as DTPs (Documented Test Procedures).

Requirements

  • End to end payroll processing experience.
  • Experience with UK and Irish payrolls; Jersey and IOM experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Ability to efficiently deal with payroll queries with a strong customer mindset.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation.
  • Ability to manually calculate a payslip.
  • Solid understanding of payroll principles, tax regulations, and statutory requirements in multiple countries.
  • Strong knowledge of different payroll systems and software, with expertise in implementing system automation and process improvement initiatives.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey complex payroll concepts to various audiences.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel abilities.
