About the position

The Senior Payroll Specialist is responsible for ensuring the integrity of payroll data through the collection, analysis, and organization of payroll-related information. This role involves maintaining formal processes for checks and balances, generating payroll reports, and assisting with payroll close and reconciliations. The specialist will also provide support and training to payroll staff and supervise a small team indirectly.

Responsibilities

  • Generate daily Payroll reports using SAP/ADP Payroll Software and Kronos Time and Attendance software.
  • Prepare and maintain payroll documentation, data standards, and procedures.
  • Conduct daily audits of time and attendance and payroll system input and output.
  • Run payroll simulations and previews.
  • Assist with payroll close, off-cycle payrolls, and reconciliation of payroll files and year-end W2 files.
  • Support the month-end close process related to Payroll Journal Entries and Reconciliations.
  • Create hyper finds in time and attendance for accurate payroll processing.
  • Prepare, collect, deposit, and monitor overpayments.
  • Train payroll staff on current and new payroll systems.
  • Prepare test scripts and record testing results for system changes affecting payroll accuracy.
  • Audit manual checks for correct calculations and data entry.
  • Ensure accurate pay and distribution of reports to end users and assist them in understanding system content.
  • Indirectly supervise a staff of 4.
  • Work on special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • AAS degree with a minimum of 3 years payroll experience preferred.
  • Strong technical and communication skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience using SAP HCM / ADP Payforce Systems and knowledge of Kronos Time and Attendance System.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to supervise staff with data entry transfer and maintenance.
  • Willingness to work beyond scheduled hours during payroll close, holidays, monthly close, audits, and special projects.
