About the position

The Senior Payroll Specialist at Aston Carter will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of payroll processing for both U.S. and Canadian employees. This position is designed for a highly organized individual who can manage payroll operations while providing exceptional customer service. The Lead Payroll Analyst will be responsible for processing payrolls, conducting audits, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The role requires a proactive approach to identifying and resolving payroll issues, as well as recommending enhancements to payroll processes and systems for continuous improvement. In this position, the Senior Payroll Specialist will analyze and resolve payroll-related issues, including tax, general accounting, and labor agreement matters. The individual will also be tasked with developing and maintaining payroll-related content for the Employee Services Knowledge Base and performing testing support for payroll system updates. The role involves close collaboration with accounting teams and third-party vendors to ensure payrolls are completed accurately and on schedule. Additionally, the Senior Payroll Specialist will serve as a Tier 2 support within the HR Service model, addressing employee inquiries related to payroll and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction. Training HR Services team members on payroll processing and time and attendance updates will also be a key responsibility. This hybrid position requires one day on-site in Newark, NJ, and offers the flexibility of remote work for the remaining days.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all payrolls for the Shared Service are processed, audited, and delivered accurately and on time.
  • Analyze and resolve payroll issues related to tax, general accounting, regulatory requirements, benefits, time reporting, and labor agreements.
  • Proactively assess the needs of the payroll department and recommend business process improvements.
  • Develop, run, and review audit reports to ensure payroll data accuracy.
  • Process manual checks, voids, stop pays, direct deposit reversals, and payroll adjustments as necessary.
  • Ensure payroll systems comply with country and province regulatory legislation.
  • Develop and maintain payroll-related content for the Employee Services Knowledge Base.
  • Perform testing support for payroll system patches and upgrades.
  • Assist Sr Payroll Manager and Payroll Manager with research and compliance of Canadian regulations.
  • Document and update departmental policies and procedures as needed.
  • Perform various audits and review schedules of employee data.
  • Coordinate closely with accounting teams to ensure accurate payroll completion for Panasonic employees in Canada.
  • Train HR Services team on payroll processing and time and attendance processes.
  • Serve as Tier 2 Payroll support within HR Service model, addressing employee issues and questions related to pay.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years experience supporting time and payroll systems in a large corporate environment.
  • Working knowledge of Canadian wage and hour, garnishments, and payroll tax rules at the federal and provincial levels.
  • Experience with Workday HCM, Payroll, and Time Tracking preferred as well as ADP WorkforceNow.
  • American Payroll Association training, CPP certification is an advantage.
