As a Senior Payroll Specialist at Cathay Bank, you will perform your duties under general supervision while adhering to established policies and procedures. This role involves supervising and auditing the work of Payroll Specialists to ensure accuracy and timeliness in payroll processing. You will also provide backup support to Payroll Specialists and the Payroll Officer when necessary, ensuring that payroll operations run smoothly and efficiently. Your primary responsibilities will include processing payroll and compiling payroll data to maintain accurate payroll records. You will perform routine duties of a Payroll Specialist, which encompass updating changes, payroll adjustments, and recording sick and vacation requests. Additionally, you will audit transaction history reports on electronic time sheets, verifying and correcting any discrepancies that may arise. This role requires you to perform call backs on vacation and sick records entered on electronic time sheets and payroll changes, as well as record leave requests, resignations, and terminations in the HRIS system and department logs. You will be responsible for processing exception items and those requiring special handling, balancing payroll, preparing general ledger entries, auditing and adjusting 401K reports, and processing other payroll-related transactions after each pay period. Maintaining the HRIS Self Service System and preparing reports for the Affirmative Action Plan, including the compilation of transfer, promotion, termination, and new hire data, will also be part of your duties. After each payroll processing, you will organize all supporting documents for the Payroll Manager's review and prepare ongoing, month-end, quarterly, and year-end reports for departmental use. In addition, you will audit and reconcile insurance billings and payroll deductions, prepare responses to notices from government agencies regarding tax filings, and reconcile general ledger and payroll suspense accounts monthly. You will also audit payroll tax returns filed by Ceridian quarterly and yearly, prepare data for reporting Vets-100, EEO-1, 401K audit, and ESOP Census yearly, and maintain and follow up with Workers' Compensation claims. Your role will involve researching and providing information for audit purposes upon request, identifying process improvements, and evaluating departmental efficiency. You will ensure compliance with legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting Human Resources functions, assist in creating desktop procedures, implement and evaluate revised policies and procedures, and coordinate special HR-related projects.
