About the position

As a Senior Payroll Specialist at Bio-Rad, you will be responsible for processing payroll for approximately 1,100 US employees, ensuring compliance with payroll laws and regulations. This role involves handling various payroll-related transactions, assisting employees with inquiries, and maintaining payroll records. You will play a crucial role in executing payroll activities accurately and timely each pay period, while also providing excellent customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly, multi-state payroll for approximately 1,100 employees.
  • Maintain payroll database and payroll-related records.
  • Process new hires, terminations, leaves of absence, Masterfile changes, stock transactions, relocations, garnishments, and employment verifications.
  • Prepare manual checks as needed.
  • Respond to payroll inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Run ad hoc reports using ADP Global View.
  • Perform special projects as assigned by the Payroll Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting preferred.
  • CPP certification highly desirable.
  • 5+ years of payroll experience.
  • Experience with ADP Global View preferred.
  • Experience with eTime Time & Labor system is a plus.
  • Experience with SAP and preparation of payroll-related journal entries is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of Federal and State payroll regulations including tax withholding, garnishments, overtime pay, shift differentials, and lead pay.
  • Strong knowledge of Union payroll.
  • Knowledge of Canadian payroll is desirable.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Detail-oriented.

  • Experience with payroll-related journal entries.
  • Assisting in month-end/quarter-end accounting close.
  • Performing monthly account analysis.
