About the position

Visiting Angels of O'Fallon/Westplex is seeking dependable Live-In Caregivers to join our growing team. As a Companion Caregiver, your role is to provide companionship and support to seniors in their homes. This includes performing safety checks upon arrival, assisting with meal preparation, and helping clients choose their clothing for the day. You will engage in activities that bring joy to your clients, such as playing games, running errands, and maintaining a clean environment. This position is ideal for parents, retirees, veterans, or anyone looking to supplement their income while making a positive impact in the lives of others. We offer flexible scheduling options, including full-time and part-time shifts, with opportunities for weekend work for those seeking extra income. The salary for this position ranges from $16.00 to $18.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Caregivers will receive paid online training through Visiting Angels University, ensuring they are well-prepared to meet the needs of our clients. We also supply personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure the safety of both caregivers and clients. Responsibilities

• Provide ambulation support, bathroom assistance, hygiene care, and redirection with encouragement and patience.
• Provide care for patients with advanced dementia.
• Provide non-medical assistance to seniors in their homes.
• Provide mobility assistance, such as walking and transfers.
• Monitor medication schedules and provide reminders.
• Monitor fluid intake and output.
• Assist with personal care and hygiene, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
• Perform light housekeeping and meal preparation tasks.
• Monitor patients overnight, assisting with mobility challenges and transfers.

Requirements

• Must be within a commutable distance of the listed area.
• Must be encouraging and patient in providing advanced dementia care.
• Must be 21 years or older to apply.
• Valid driver's license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation required.
• Current CNA, NA, PCA, or HHA certification is a plus.
• Must be self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Able to pass drug screening and criminal background check.
• Detail-oriented, trustworthy, and dedicated to improving the lives of seniors and their families.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience caring for a family member or being a full-time parent/homemaker.
• Experience working in an Assisted Living Facility, Skilled Nursing, Senior Home, or Senior Center as a caretaker.
• Certifications like Certified Nursing Assistant, Home Health Aid, and Personal Care Aid.
