About the position
The Senior Pharmacy Technician plays a crucial role in supporting the daily operations of the pharmacy under the supervision of a pharmacist. This position involves both inpatient and retail responsibilities, including advanced technical procedures, quality assurance, and training of new pharmacy technicians. The role is designed for individuals with significant experience in pharmacy operations, particularly in compounding and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Pharmacist in the daily operation of the Pharmacy.
- Perform intravenous and/or hazardous drug compounding for inpatient areas.
- Regularly assist Pharmacy Leadership with quality assurance projects and regulatory compliance monitoring.
- Serve as a designated trainer for new pharmacy technicians.
- Provide expert-level support to pharmacists in retail areas, managing advanced technical procedures and workflow efficiency.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- State Pharmacy Technician License/Registration required.
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) credential required.
- At least 4 years of pharmacy technician experience in the current practice area preferred.
- Additional certifications in relevant areas of practice preferred.
- Graduate of ASHP-accredited or equivalent pharmacy technician training program preferred.
Nice-to-haves
- 340B program experience preferred.
