About the position

We are seeking a full-time Senior Pilot Experience Product Designer in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for understanding fundamental usability and user-centered design principles to guide software user interface development for aviation products, including integrated flight decks and state-of-the-art cockpit designs. As a Senior Product Designer, you may perform as a design lead who guides design direction for a small project or sub-project. Your role will involve conducting user interviews and observational research, interpreting research data to create viable solutions, and creating interactive prototypes to improve and validate designs. You will take ownership of key features in a product line and remain current on user research methods to conduct effective research for generating and improving designs. You will work closely with partners and potential partners to define the user experience, staying abreast of new prototyping, presentation, or computer graphics techniques and software. Demonstrating full use of design standards and procedures, you will exhibit a sense of urgency, commitment, and focus on the right priorities in developing solutions in a timely fashion. Presenting design ideas to various disciplines or customers will be a key part of your responsibilities, as will independently producing solid design solutions and providing reliable solutions to a variety of problems. Additionally, you will serve as a mentor to less experienced User Experience Designers (User Experience Designer 1).

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Interactive Design, Human Factors, Visual Design, or equivalent curriculum teaching user-centered design principles.
  • Minimum of 1 year relevant work experience or 5 years equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent academic performance (GPA of 3.0 or higher).
  • Proficiency in a variety of design tools.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Understanding of good user interface design principles (consistency, simplicity, usability).

Nice-to-haves

  • Outstanding academic performance (GPA of 3.5 or higher).
  • Experience in graphics production and editing technology.
  • Skills in motion graphics, interactive design, and videography.
  • Proficiency in software such as Figma, Blender, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects.
  • Possession of a Pilot Certificate (Private Pilot license, Instrument rating, etc.).
