About the position

The Senior Planner, Demand Planning at Shiseido plays a crucial role in ensuring the alignment of demand forecasts with financial targets and market strategies. This position is highly collaborative, requiring close communication with various teams including Brand Global Marketing, US Finance, and Domestic Sales and Marketing Teams. The planner will be responsible for developing an 18-month demand plan for retailers, as well as creating and aligning forecasts for new product launches based on historical data, benchmarks, and growth strategies. In this role, the Senior Planner will be accountable for achieving monthly Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as Forecast Accuracy and Forecast Bias. This includes conducting monthly root cause analyses to report findings back to the business and identifying necessary corrective actions. The planner will manage at least two retailers or Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) planning groups, ensuring that the external demand planning aligns with the company's financial objectives. The position also involves lifecycle management, which includes managing global and retailer-specific product additions and deletions. The Senior Planner will implement Integrated Business Planning (IBP) Statistical Forecasting for the US portfolio and will be responsible for cleansing historical data to ensure accuracy in forecasting. Additionally, the planner will lead pre-Demand Review and Demand Review meetings, facilitating discussions among Demand Planning, sales, marketing, and finance teams to align on the US Region Demand plan prior to month-end submissions for production execution. Furthermore, the Senior Planner will lead the US Launch Consensus meeting with key stakeholders to ensure that product launches are appropriately sized according to financial targets and retail projections, thereby ensuring sufficient inventory is available for successful launches. This role requires a hands-on approach, considering front-line realities in decision-making, and fostering a collaborative environment that encourages open communication and accountability among team members.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage an 18-month demand plan by retailer.

Requirements

  • College degree or equivalent related work experience in the beauty industry.
  • 4+ years' experience in demand planning, preferably in beauty or CPG sectors.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead meetings and drive actions across cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication skills to convey complex topics clearly to peers and senior leadership.
  • Ability to adapt quickly in a highly collaborative environment.
  • Advanced Excel skills for manipulating large data sets and producing intuitive reporting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the beauty or consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry.
