As a Senior Platform DevSecOps Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in transforming software engineering by integrating development and operations through a comprehensive cloud-based platform. This position is essential for shaping the future of software development, enabling the efficient delivery of high-quality, secure software. You will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and integrating a predominantly cloud-based compute/network/storage infrastructure. Your work will also involve modernizing the program platform's overarching design by leveraging emerging technologies and utilizing DevOps/DevSecOps tools and automation to streamline processes, enhance collaboration, and accelerate release cycles, ultimately driving efficiency and innovation. In this role, you will be part of a team responsible for the development and operational environments of a large program that produces a critical national asset. Your responsibilities will include hands-on engineering work, documentation, and baseline control. You will support the transition of systems that are tightly coupled to the underlying infrastructure, assist with architecture and design, and optimize build, integration, and deployment pipelines for performance and scalability across cloud-based environments. Collaboration with software engineers, data scientists, and other agile development teams will be crucial as you design and implement robust platform solutions that integrate security and compliance measures such as encryption and access management. Additionally, you will provide operational support for the platform, ensuring its reliability and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Support transitioning a system that is tightly coupled to the underlying infrastructure.
  • Assist with architecture, design, development, integration, and support of build, integration & test, and deployment pipelines, optimizing for performance and scalability across cloud-based computing environments.
  • Leverage company and industry best practices and capabilities to improve scalability, consistency, infrastructure efficiency, reduce deployment time, and automate configuration management.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, and other agile development teams to design and implement robust platform solutions.
  • Integrate security and compliance into the platform with services such as encryption and access management.
  • Provide operational support for the platform.

Requirements

  • Typically requires BS/BA Degree in Science, Technology Engineering Math (STEM) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or Physics and 5+ years of related work experience.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and integrating platform infrastructure services using technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker.
  • Experience with programming/scripting languages (E.g. Python, Java, Ruby, Bash, C++, C#, Go).
  • Must meet DoD 8570 IAT level II requirements (Security + CE or equivalent).
  • A U.S. government TS/SCI / CI Poly issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience deploying, configuring, and supporting CICD Pipelines tools (E.g. Jira, Confluence, Bit Bucket, Jenkins, Artifactory, Gitlab).
  • Experience with automation frameworks such as Terraform, Ansible, and Chef.
  • Experience with scanning tools (E.g. Nessus, Fortify, Anchore).
  • Multi-disciplined infrastructure experience with compute, networks, storage, and virtualization.
  • Experience developing, testing & delivering applications within a DevSecOps framework.
  • Background in COTS/FOSS product installation, configuration, and integration.
  • Experience with troubleshooting applications & infrastructure services on Linux based Operating Systems.
  • Experience with RedHat Linux.
  • Experience with Cloud based technologies, preferably Amazon Web Services (AWS)/ Commercial Cloud Services (C2S).
