About the position

As a Senior Platform DevSecOps Engineer at Raytheon, you will play a pivotal role in transforming software engineering practices by integrating development and operations through a comprehensive cloud-based platform. This position is essential in shaping the future of software development, focusing on delivering high-quality, secure software efficiently. You will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, and integration of a predominantly cloud-based compute, network, and storage infrastructure. Your work will involve modernizing the program platform's overarching design by leveraging emerging technologies and utilizing DevOps/DevSecOps tools and automation to streamline processes, enhance collaboration, and accelerate release cycles, ultimately driving efficiency and innovation. In this role, you will be part of a team that manages development and operational environments for a large program that produces a critical national asset. Your responsibilities will include hands-on engineering work, documentation, and baseline control. You will support the transition of systems that are tightly coupled to the underlying infrastructure, assist with architecture and design, and optimize build, integration, and deployment pipelines for performance and scalability across cloud-based environments. Collaboration with software engineers, data scientists, and other agile development teams will be crucial as you design and implement robust platform solutions that integrate security and compliance measures such as encryption and access management. This position requires a strong foundation in both technical skills and problem-solving abilities, as you will be tasked with providing operational support for the platform while ensuring that best practices are followed to improve scalability, consistency, and infrastructure efficiency. Your contributions will be vital in reducing deployment times and automating configuration management, thereby enhancing the overall effectiveness of the software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Support transitioning a system that is tightly coupled to the underlying infrastructure
  • Assist with architecture, design, development, integration, and support of build, integration & test, and deployment pipelines, optimizing for performance and scalability across cloud-based computing environments
  • Leverage company and industry best practices and capabilities to improve scalability, consistency, infrastructure efficiency, reduce deployment time, and automate configuration management
  • Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, and other agile development teams to design and implement robust platform solutions
  • Integrate security and compliance into the platform with services such as encryption and access management
  • Provide operational support for the platform

Requirements

  • Typically requires BS/BA Degree in Science, Technology Engineering Math (STEM) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or Physics and 5+ years of related work experience
  • Experience designing, implementing, and integrating platform infrastructure services using technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker
  • Experience with programming/scripting languages (E.g. Python, Java, Ruby, Bash, C++, C#, Go)
  • Must meet DoD 8570 IAT level II requirements (Security + CE or equivalent)
  • A U.S. government TS/SCI / CI Poly issued security clearance is required
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience deploying, configuring, and supporting CICD Pipelines tools (E.g. Jira, Confluence, Bit Bucket, Jenkins, Artifactory, Gitlab)
  • Experience with automation frameworks such as Terraform, Ansible, and Chef
  • Experience with scanning tools (E.g. Nessus, Fortify, Anchore)
  • Multi-disciplined infrastructure experience with compute, networks, storage, and virtualization
  • Experience developing, testing & delivering applications within a DevSecOps framework
  • Background in COTS/FOSS product installation, configuration, and integration
  • Experience with troubleshooting applications & infrastructure services on Linux based Operating Systems
  • Experience with RedHat Linux
  • Experience with Cloud based technologies, preferably Amazon Web Services (AWS)/ Commercial Cloud Services (C2S)
