About the position

As a Senior Platform DevSecOps Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in transforming software engineering by integrating development and operations through a cloud-based platform. This position focuses on designing, developing, implementing, and integrating cloud-based infrastructure while modernizing the overarching design using emerging technologies and DevOps/DevSecOps tools. You will work on a team responsible for both development and operational environments, contributing to a critical national asset.

Responsibilities

• Support transitioning a system that is tightly coupled to the underlying infrastructure.
• Assist with architecture, design, development, integration, and support of build, integration & test, and deployment pipelines, optimizing for performance and scalability across cloud-based computing environments.
• Leverage company and industry best practices to improve scalability, consistency, infrastructure efficiency, reduce deployment time, and automate configuration management.
• Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, and other agile development teams to design and implement robust platform solutions.
• Integrate security and compliance into the platform with services such as encryption and access management.
• Provide operational support for the platform.

Requirements

• Typically requires BS/BA Degree in STEM (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or Physics) and 5+ years of related work experience.
• Experience with RedHat Linux.
• Experience with cloud-based technologies, preferably AWS/Commercial Cloud Services (C2S).
• Experience designing, implementing, and integrating platform infrastructure services using technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker.
• Experience with programming/scripting languages (e.g., Python, Java, Ruby, Bash, C++, C#, Go).
• Experience troubleshooting applications & infrastructure services on Linux-based Operating Systems.
• Must meet DoD 8570 IAT level II requirements (Security + CE or equivalent).

Nice-to-haves

• Experience deploying, configuring, and supporting CICD Pipeline tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Bit Bucket, Jenkins, Artifactory, Gitlab).
• Experience with automation frameworks such as Terraform, Ansible, and Chef.
• Experience with scanning tools (e.g., Nessus, Fortify, Anchore).
• Multi-disciplined infrastructure experience with compute, networks, storage, and virtualization.
• Experience developing, testing & delivering applications within a DevSecOps framework.
• Background in COTS/FOSS product installation, configuration, and integration.
