About the position

Third Way's National Security Program is seeking a Senior Policy Advisor to develop and advance cutting-edge public policies for the top cybersecurity threats of the 21st century. This position will continue the groundbreaking work of Third Way's non-partisan Cyber Enforcement Initiative, which is dedicated to strengthening governments' abilities to identify, stop, and bring to justice malicious cyber actors. The Senior Policy Advisor will be responsible for drafting high-impact written materials and educating policymakers on Capitol Hill and within the Administration about the importance of new policies that are necessary to keep pace with an ever-evolving cyber and technological landscape. In this role, the Senior Policy Advisor will analyze the role of cryptocurrency in cybercrime and develop actionable policy recommendations aimed at enhancing law enforcement's capacity to respond effectively. The advisor will work closely with the Administration and Congress to implement recommendations from Third Way's Cyber Enforcement Initiative, focusing on improving responses to cyber-attacks and enforcing actions against cybercriminals. This includes evaluating the efficacy of proposed executive actions and legislation. The position also involves conceiving, drafting, and editing high-impact written products that educate and inform policymakers about the challenges associated with combating ransomware attacks and enforcing laws against other forms of cybercrime. Additionally, the Senior Policy Advisor will develop a communication and outreach strategy targeting policy experts, law enforcement, and relevant federal and international agencies to promote Third Way's policy ideas. Representing Third Way's Cyber Enforcement Initiative at convenings, panel discussions, and in media engagements will also be a key responsibility, along with analyzing other national security policy challenges and drafting incisive summaries for policymakers.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing the role of cryptocurrency in cybercrime and developing actionable policy recommendations to improve law enforcement's ability to respond.
  • Working with the Administration and the Hill to implement Third Way's Cyber Enforcement Initiative recommendations to improve responses to cyber-attacks and enforcement against cyber-criminals, and analyzing the efficacy of proposed executive action and legislation.

Requirements

  • A degree in law, cybersecurity, or a relevant field.
  • A minimum of five years experience in law, cybersecurity policy, or a relevant field.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to think on your feet and adapt to changes effortlessly.
