About the position

The Senior Ports & Marines Structural Engineer at AtkinsRéalis is responsible for applying engineering practices to the design and construction of liquid natural gas (LNG) facilities and marine structures. This role involves planning, designing, and producing engineering drawings, as well as conducting feasibility studies and ensuring compliance with engineering standards. The position requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and oversight of construction administration functions.

Responsibilities

  • Apply standard engineering practices to projects involving LNG facilities and marine structures.
  • Perform planning, design, and production of engineering drawings.
  • Supervise the production of drawings and prepare specifications for ports and coastal structures.
  • Conduct engineering investigations and feasibility studies for civil engineering structures.
  • Ensure adherence to construction procedures and collect data samples for quality control testing.
  • Conduct data acquisition and analysis, researching alternative design approaches and site conditions.
  • Coordinate and solve problems on various engineering projects with significant organizational impact.
  • Collaborate with architects, designers, and project managers as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ensure compliance of structural engineering deliverables with applicable codes and standards.
  • Review project documentation and deliverables according to corporate QA/QC procedures.
  • Perform construction administration functions including shop drawing reviews and site visits.
  • Prepare materials for reports and permit applications, including graphic presentations.
  • Conduct field observations of construction for port terminals and oil & gas platforms.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in civil engineering, Ocean Engineering, or related field.
  • Two years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
  • Five years of experience using AutoCAD, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint in marine construction engineering.
  • Five years of experience in structural design and analysis for coastal and marine structures.
  • Five years of experience with mooring analysis using Opti moor, Orca flex, or comparable software.
  • Experience with calculations for ship mooring and berthing forces, including wave force modeling for moored ships.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) License is required.
