About the position

As a Senior Power BI Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining Power BI solutions that provide valuable insights to our business stakeholders. This role requires close collaboration with data analysts, data engineers, and business teams to understand their requirements and translate them into impactful visualizations. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience with Power BI, data modeling, and strong SQL skills, along with a passion for turning data into strategic business insights. You will be expected to create complex dashboards and reports that not only meet the needs of stakeholders but also enhance decision-making processes across the organization. In this position, you will engage in various aspects of Power BI development, including the design and optimization of data models using Power BI Desktop. You will develop DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) formulas to perform complex calculations and data transformations, ensuring that the dashboards and reports you create are both high-performing and scalable. Your role will also involve collaborating with business stakeholders to gather requirements and implement best practices for data visualization, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and usability in all outputs. Additionally, you will be responsible for integrating data from multiple sources such as SQL Server, Excel, and Azure into Power BI, maintaining data accuracy and consistency throughout the process. You will develop and maintain ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data into Power BI, utilizing Power Query to clean, transform, and merge data from various sources. Your expertise in data modeling will be crucial as you design and implement efficient data models that support various reporting and analytics use cases, optimizing them for performance and scalability. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with data engineers, analysts, and business teams to understand data requirements and deliver high-quality solutions. You will also provide training and support to business users on how to effectively use Power BI tools and features, ensuring that technical concepts are communicated effectively to non-technical stakeholders. Quality assurance is another critical aspect of your responsibilities, as you will conduct testing and debugging to ensure the accuracy and reliability of Power BI reports and dashboards, while also documenting data models, calculations, and Power BI solutions for future reference and knowledge sharing.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain complex Power BI dashboards and reports that provide actionable insights to stakeholders.
• Create and optimize data models using Power BI Desktop, ensuring high performance and scalability.
• Develop DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) formulas to perform complex calculations and data transformations.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into effective data visualizations.
• Implement best practices for data visualization, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and usability.
• Continuously improve existing Power BI solutions by incorporating user feedback and new features.
• Integrate data from multiple sources (SQL Server, Excel, Azure, etc.) into Power BI, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
• Develop and maintain ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data into Power BI.
• Utilize Power Query to clean, transform, and merge data from various sources.
• Design and implement efficient data models that support the needs of various reporting and analytics use cases.
• Optimize data models for performance, scalability, and ease of use, using best practices in data modeling and DAX.
• Ensure data models are aligned with the overall data architecture and business requirements.
• Work closely with data engineers, analysts, and business teams to understand data requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.
• Provide training and support to business users on how to effectively use Power BI tools and features.
• Communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
• Conduct testing and debugging to ensure the accuracy and reliability of Power BI reports and dashboards.
• Implement and enforce Power BI development standards and best practices within the team.
• Document data models, calculations, and Power BI solutions for future reference and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field.
• 12+ years of experience in business intelligence, data analysis, or data visualization roles.
• 10+ years of hands-on experience with Power BI development and data modeling.
• Proven experience in creating complex DAX formulas and optimizing Power BI solutions for performance.
• Strong proficiency in Power BI, including Power BI Desktop, Power Query, DAX, and Power BI Service.
• Expertise in SQL and experience working with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL).
• Experience with ETL tools and processes, preferably in the context of Power BI.
• Familiarity with Azure data services (e.g., Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory) is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to detail and a passion for delivering high-quality work.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with other data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, QlikView).
