About the position

The Senior/Principal Auditor for Financial and Business Applications at Sandia National Laboratories is responsible for conducting audits to verify the accuracy and compliance of accounting, operational, and procedural records. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the reliability of controls and risk mitigation efforts, contributing to the organization's mission of national security and technology innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct audits by examining and verifying accounting, statistical, operational, and procedural records of internal and external organizations.
  • Prepare audit work papers ensuring completeness, accuracy, and logical conclusions to provide effective risk mitigation.
  • Examine records to ensure proper recording of transactions and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, agreements, and policies.
  • Conduct the audit and prepare reports of findings and recommendations to management and other entities.
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to business practices, processes, and control procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a business field.
  • Five or more years of directly related experience in auditing or similar assessment.
  • Two or more years of auditing experience or similar assessment experience.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain professional audit certification.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE L-level security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in business with at least 30 semester hours of accounting.
  • Active Certified Public Accounting license, Certified Fraud Examiner certificate, or Certified Internal Auditor license.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Prior experience as a financial analyst and/or in supply chain management.
  • Knowledge of Federal acquisition policy, internal controls, and process improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
