About the position

The BI Analyst is responsible for developing analytics for all areas of Billings Clinic business segments. This entails gathering specifications, extracting, interpreting, and analyzing data through report and data visualization development to deliver actionable insights. This role requires someone who is curious in nature and adaptable to change. The position may be eligible for remote work in several states including Montana, Hawaii, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Texas, Wyoming, Arizona, and West Virginia. Depending on experience and education, candidates may be considered for Senior or Principal BI Analyst roles. Essential Job Functions include creating actionable data insights that highlight key performance indicators, identifying areas of opportunity for current operations, and displaying root cause analysis of problems. The BI Analyst will engage in data storytelling, effectively designing and communicating data insights using narratives and visualizations. The role also involves integrating components of the Microsoft Power Platform to deliver data insights and trigger downstream processes, utilizing tools such as Power BI, Power Apps, and Power Automate. The BI Analyst will guide the adoption, development, and implementation of new analytic tools, technologies, and practices while promoting data literacy within the organization. This includes maintaining the ability to read, write, and communicate data in context, understanding data sources and constructs, and applying analytical methods and techniques. The analyst will create presentations for stakeholders and leadership to highlight key analysis takeaways and manage data validation plans to ensure the trustworthiness of the data presented. Additionally, the BI Analyst will support self-service BI users in their understanding of data and tools, provide reporting solutions, and respond to ad-hoc report requests from the business unit. The role requires the development and conversion of user requirements into technical specifications for development, knowledge of and adherence to the agile software development lifecycle, and performing other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the department and organization. The BI Analyst will also support and model behaviors consistent with Billings Clinic's mission, vision, values, code of business conduct, and service expectations, while meeting all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements and maintaining competency in all relevant standards.

Responsibilities

  • Supports self-service BI users in their understanding of data and tools.
  • Provides reporting solutions and responds to ad-hoc report requests from the business unit.
  • Develops and converts user requirements into technical specifications for development.
  • Adheres to the agile software development lifecycle.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.

Requirements

  • Experience in data analysis and visualization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate).
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to create presentations and communicate insights effectively to stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of agile software development lifecycle.
