About the position

The Senior Principal Cybersecurity Engineer at Leonardo DRS Land Systems is responsible for driving cybersecurity initiatives for tactical systems. This role involves establishing and implementing cybersecurity policies, overseeing compliance with DoD standards, and ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of tactical systems and data. The engineer will collaborate with a team to enhance the cybersecurity posture of the organization and will play a key role in vulnerability management, threat intelligence, and system assessments.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and implement robust cybersecurity policies and procedures for tactical systems.
  • Oversee the Information Assurance Assessment & Authorization (A&A) process, including RMF implementation.
  • Evaluate tactical system architectures and provide recommendations for security compliance.
  • Establish processes to identify, track, and mitigate tactical system vulnerabilities.
  • Stay informed about evolving cyber threats and provide expert advice to engineering teams.
  • Review vendor and consultant work packages for alignment with cybersecurity standards.
  • Conduct comprehensive cybersecurity assessments of Linux and Windows-based tactical systems.
  • Coordinate with engineers from other disciplines to integrate cybersecurity measures into tactical systems.
  • Communicate with various stakeholders including manufacturing, supply chain, and program management.

Requirements

  • CISSP or CISM certification required.
  • Ability to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Clearance.
  • Master's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in Information Systems Security, Information Assurance, or Security Engineering.
  • Deep understanding of DoD, US Federal, and NIST regulations.
  • Experience implementing and evaluating IA and RMF compliance.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Expertise in Linux and Windows operating systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • GSLC and GDSA certifications are a plus.
  • Experience with Security Classifications Guides (SCGs) and IA assessments of classified systems.
