About the position

The Senior/Principal Electrical Engineer, Facilities at Bath Iron Works will play a crucial role in overseeing the electrical infrastructure across multiple facilities. This position is responsible for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of electrical systems to meet both current and future operational needs. The engineer will provide technical support for maintenance and project activities, ensuring that all electrical systems are compliant with relevant codes and standards. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work collaboratively with various teams to enhance the performance of electrical systems. In this position, the engineer will be expected to apply their expertise in electrical engineering to develop and implement maintenance strategies that optimize the performance of electrical infrastructure. This includes conducting assessments of existing systems, identifying areas for improvement, and recommending solutions that align with industry best practices. The engineer will also be involved in project planning and execution, ensuring that all electrical work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, with a focus on industrial and commercial applications. They will be expected to stay current with technological advancements in the field and apply this knowledge to enhance the capabilities of Bath Iron Works' facilities. Responsibilities

  • Oversee the electrical infrastructure at multiple facilities.
  • Provide technical support to maintenance and project activities.
  • Ensure the reliability of electrical systems for current and future needs.
  • Develop and implement maintenance strategies for electrical systems.
  • Conduct assessments of existing electrical systems and recommend improvements.
  • Collaborate with various teams to enhance electrical system performance.
  • Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E, and applicable local, state, and federal codes.
  • Manage multiple priorities effectively.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required, with a preference for Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer preferred; other certificates or licenses are a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of electrical/electronics work experience in an industrial/commercial setting.
  • Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, and applicable codes.
  • Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Computerized Numerical Controls (CNC) preferred.
  • Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLC) and A/C, D/C variable speed drives preferred.
  • Ability to develop and provide support for facilities maintenance and projects.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Plant maintenance experience within a manufacturing facility is a plus.
  • Proficient in PC skills, particularly Microsoft Office products.
