About the position

BAE Systems is seeking a Senior Principal Electrical Engineer to lead electrical engineering teams in the design, development, integration, and testing of complex military systems. This role involves a hybrid work format, requiring collaboration both onsite and remotely, as well as travel to supplier sites. The engineer will be responsible for developing robust hardware architectures and solutions to meet demanding customer requirements, leveraging their expertise in electrical engineering to support new business capture and lead teams through all phases of the product life cycle.

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical engineering teams in design, development, integration, and testing of military systems.
  • Define electrical concepts and architectures to meet customer requirements and proposal inputs.
  • Develop robust hardware architectures and solutions for complex military systems.
  • Perform circuit and CCA design and analysis, including FPGA/SoC designs and developments.
  • Support resolution of technical issues during manufacture and testing of hardware.
  • Evaluate and troubleshoot LRU and circuit card level issues, assessing test faults for root cause.
  • Plan work products and manage subcontract developments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 8+ years of experience or a Master's Degree with 6+ years in the aero/defense industry.
  • Active (Eligible for) DOD Secret Clearance.
  • 8+ years of demonstrated experience in hardware architecting and product development for complex DoD military electronics.
  • Solid fundamentals of digital/analog/mixed signal/power electronics and interface standards.
  • Experience with state-of-the-art electrical engineering development tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and analytical capability.

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrated design success in meeting difficult design requirements.
  • Experience with industrial/military temperature circuit card design.
  • Familiarity with JTAG protocol and current hands-on experience with Cadence tools.
  • Experience with XILINX & Microchip FPGA/SoC developments and toolsets.
  • Experience designing synchronous buck, buck-boost, and linear regulators.
